RVT Deactivation Button Operational Test
The Rear Vehicle Transmitter "RVT" transmits a 15hz signal (square wave pull to ground) on the Blue wire to the Module to deactivate the CCM system.
There are two versions of the RVT - first generation (metal unit with no LED) and second generation (Plastic with internal LEDs).
Use the following tests to check the operation of the RVT if the system does not deactivate or only intermittently deactivates.
- Press button on RVT (plastic units only) an internal LED should flash when the button is pressed indicating power is available at the RVT. This is a high probability indicator of no issue with the RVT, however:
- Confirm voltage on the Blue Wire.
- Measure the voltage on the blue wire near the RVT. The voltage should be between 8-12VDC when the button is NOT pressed and between 5-8 when the button is pressed. If voltage is OK go to step3.
- If the Voltage is measuring around 6VDC when the button is not pressed connect the RED RVT wire to battery positive. If the system deactivates in the key 'ON' or 'ACC' position any ignition source may be used. Check to see if button press will deactivate unit.
- If zero volts is measured on the Blue wire at the RVT, Disconnect the RVT and connect it directly next to the module - blue wire to blue wire and black to ground, to eliminate bus wiring issues. Check power as in step 1, and Check to see if button press will deactivate unit.
- Confirm your RVT is transmitting the 15Hz signal by performing the following test with a probe light or low powered led light.
- connect the light probe to a 12v source
- probe the RVT blue wire and press the red stop button.
- A positive result - On/Off flashing light on the probe when the stop button is pressed
- Negative result - no flashing light on the probe when the stop button is pressed
- Equipment: Low Power LED (1/4, or 1/2 w)
- connect one wire coming from the LED to the Blue RVT wire and the other LED wire to ground and press the red stop button.
- A positive result - On/Off flashing light on the probe when the stop button is pressed
- Negative result - no flashing LED light when the stop button is being depressed.
