EP1Plus Written Installation Instructions
The installation instructions below apply to more than one version of our EP1plus system. Depending on the operating parameters of your system you may be required to install the 2-Pin harness or 3-Pin harness possibly both in addition to the 6-Pin harness. Please make reference to the installation schematic and corresponding part number of the module you purchased.
In addition to the written instructions utilize our Installation Support Page which provides detailed diagrams, troubleshooting tips and more.
Installing the 6-Pin Wire Harness
- BATTERY POWER - Connect the Red Wire to battery 12/24 volts. (constant voltage)
- GROUND - Connect the Black Wire to a good ground connection.
- IGNITION - Connect the Yellow Wire to the vehicle ignition 12/24 volts when the key is ON.
- DEACTIVATION - Connect the Blue Wire to the Blue Wire of the Deactivation Button
- ACTIVATION - The Brown Activation Wire is typically connected to the overhead lights of a School Bus or the brake switch in a passenger van. Activation occurs when 12/24 volts is temporarily applied. The wire must not be connected to 12/24 volts constant.
- HORN - Connect the Green Wire to the ground side of the horn relay.
Installing the 3-Pin Wire Harness
The installation of the 3-Pin wire harness can be Optional or Mandatory in some cases. If an LED activation indicator is required or the system deactivates in ignition 'OFF' the installation of the 3-pin harness is required. The Accessory connection is optional but recommended.
- ACCESSORY - Connect the White/Orange stripe wire to ignition accessory power.
- DOOR SWITCH - Connect the White\Blue stripe wire to an entrance door switch that provides a ground when the door is open.
- LED (SYS ACTIVE INDICATOR) - Connect the White\Green stripe to the positive lead of the LED.
Installing the 2-Pin Wire Harness
The installation of the 2-Pin wire harness may be optional or mandatory based on State operation requirements. The dome light connection activates the dome light during the child check and up to 2 minutes after deactivation. The Brake Input eliminates the possibility of the horn going off while the vehicle is in transit. Connecting the brake input wire is only necessary if called for in the installation schematic.
- DOME LIGHT - Connect the Purple Wire to the ground side of the dome light relay.
- BRAKE INPUT - Connect the Gray Wire to the terminal of the brake light switch that becomes 12 volts when the brake pedal is depressed.
Mounting and Installing the Deactivation Button. (RVT-Reset Button)
- Run and connect a dedicated wire from Pin 4 of the 6 Pin connector "Blue Wire" to the RVT reset button Blue Wire.
- Connect the Black Wire from the RVT reset button to a reliable ground.
- For a 24 volts application connect the Red Wire from the RVT reset button to a 24 volts source.
