Operation Guide TUG
Overview
The EP2plus Voice System (TUG) utilizes the fundamental Child Check reminder principle of our EP1plus with the addition of audible instruction through an external speaker. Below you will find key operational features, additional support information and the schematic to assist with your operation and/or installation.
Key Software Features
Activation
- The system will activate automatically after the ignition has been ON for 10 minutes OR by use of the 8-way overhead red lights (or other 12/24V source) - whichever occurs first.
Deactivation
- The system will deactivate in the key OFF position.
Time to Perform the Child Check
- So long as the doors remain closed during the deactivation process,the driver will have an unlimited time to perform the child check.
Door
- The door is monitored during deactivation and if opened before the child check is complete the horn will sound.
- If the front door is opened during deactivation, you will need to shut the door and cycle the key to cancel the alarm.
Horn
- If the child check is not performed the horn will sound for 5 minutes.
Dome Lights
- The dome light will flash 2 times to confirm deactivation.
- The dome lights will illuminate for 1 minute after the system has been deactivated.
- The dome light will turn on every time the front door is opened for a maximum of 2 minutes (service light)
Audio
- The external speaker emits audio commands to the driver.
Accessory Time
- The driver can sit with the key in the accessory position for 4 minutes and can extend that time by cycling the key.
Ignition ON
When the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position an ♪ Ignition tone ♪ is heard indicating the system is ready for operation.
Activation
The EP2plus TUG Voice System will auto-activate after 10 minutes of the ignition being 'ON', or when the 8-way overhead red lights (or other 12/24V source) are applied whichever comes first. Activation will be confirmed with "Child Check Mate is now Activated" - which can be heard from the speaker.
Deactivation
- Close the entrance door
- Turn the key to the ♪ 'OFF' position ♪ .
- You will hear "Please conduct your child search now."
- Walk to the rear of the vehicle and conduct a thorough inspection of your vehicle.
- The driver has unlimited time to perform the child check as long as the door remains closed during deactivation.
- Depress the rear deactivation button and hold for 3 seconds.
- You will hear the deactivation tone followed by "Child Check-Mate is now deactivated"
- Dome lights will illuminate for 1 minute after deactivation.
Dome (Interior) Lights
- Dome lights will illuminate when the front door is open.
- Dome lights will illuminate during the child check period.
- Dome lights will flash twice to confirm deactivation.
- Dome lights will illuminate for 1 minute after deactivation.
Horn Will Sound...
- When the ignition is 'OFF' and the entrance door is open or opened prior to deactivation.
- When the accessory feature times out (4 minutes).
- When the road crossing feature times out (10 minutes).
Silencing the Alarm
These steps do not deactivate the system. This will cancel the alarm and reset the EP1plus back into the activated state.
- Turn Ignition ‘ON’ for 2 seconds.
- Turn Ignition back to ‘OFF'.
- Complete child check and deactivate the system
Road Crossing Feature
This feature allows a driver to turn the vehicle off and remove the key from the ignition for a maximum period of 10 minutes without deactivating the system. This feature allows a driver to turn the vehicle off and remove the key from the ignition to assist the loading or unloading of children or to perform escort duties or assist special needs passengers.
- Activate 8-way overhead lights (or other 12/24V activation source).
- Remove the key from the ignition and perform escort duties.
- Insert the key back into the ignition and turn to the 'ON' position.
- Deactivate 8-way overhead lights and continue on your route.
Accessory Feature
This is an optional feature and requires that your technician connect the system to an accessory power source. The accessory feature was designed to accommodate loading and unloading when the engine is not permitted to be running. The accessory power source will provide the driver 4 minutes for unloading passengers. This can be extended by cycling the key from 'ACC' to ‘OFF’ back to 'ACC' when the driver hears "To continue waiting, please cycle your key." This process can be repeated as needed.
