PASSENGER ADVISORY SYSTEM – Each school bus shall be equipped with a passenger advisory system that is armed when the red lights are turned on at first passenger stop. If the driver attempts to exit the bus prior to deactivation procedures, the horn shall sound immediately. The proper procedure for deactivation is by placing the ignition key in the “OFF” position and then pressing a button located on the rear bulkhead on driver’s side of bus prior to opening passenger door to exit. The deactivation device shall be tamper-proof such that it cannot be disabled by students or other passengers. Explicit instructions for operating this system shall be installed above entrance door Instructions shall be on a plastic type material that will adhere to the applied surface. Timing delays of any kind are prohibited.

Operation Features for A007 ETO:
  • Activates by the 8-way overhead red lights (or another 12V source)
  • Deactivates in Key OFF position 
  • Front door monitored and needs to remain closed during deactivation
  • Unlimited time to do child check and deactivate system
  • Horn will sound for 5 minutes if the School Bus child check is not done
  • To silence the alarm, cycle the key off and then back to on
  • Dome lights will illuminate for 2 minutes after deactivation
  • Can wait in Accessory position for up to 4 minutes (can be extended by cycling the key)

Operation Features for A007 ETP:
  • Activation occurs automatically after ignition has been on for 5 seconds
  • Deactivates in Key OFF position 
  • The front door is monitored and needs to remain closed during deactivation
  • Unlimited time to do child check and deactivate system
  • Horn will sound for 5 minutes if the child check is not done
  • To silence the horn, cycle the key off and then back to on
