Email Rules: Augmenting Alerts With Email Rules
Overview
If you really want to call attention to email alerts, you can make your own custom Outlook, Gmail or other rules pretty easily!
Here's How
For example, any time a CCM Motion Sensor thinks that a child has been left on-board, play an alarm and show a desktop notification in red until I close it.
- Apply the rule to incoming mail only, where
- the sender is your GPS system's alert email From address (e.g. alerts@gpssystem.com)
- the message contains specific text that you do not have in other emails (e.g. "ALERT: POSSIBLE CHILD ONBOARD")
- Now you need to decide what you want to happen when that type of email is received (we had ours' setup to show a notification and play an alarm sound)
You should be able to find your GPS system's email address by looking at a few of the alert emails you've received already.
Want to be really nerdy / a safety superhero?
You can also integrate your SMS / Email alerts with IFTTT, Zapier, automate.io, etc. Using these types of products, you could, for example, turn on a flashing red light in your dispatch office. Whenever an alarm is triggered, or you could add an entry to a spreadsheet so that you have a track record of incidences of system tampering.
