Accessory Delay / Wait Feature
Accessory Delay / Wait Feature
Overview
The 'Accessory Feature' was designed to accommodate the loading or unloading of students when the engine is not permitted to be running. Positioning the key from the ‘ON’ position to 'ACC' Accessory position allows the driver to open the doors on a 4-minute time cycle. When the driver hears the warning tones from the module the key can be cycled to extend the time for an additional 4 minutes. This process can be repeated as needed. From the Accessory position, the driver can restart the vehicle (position the key back into 'ON') and continue operating the vehicle without the need to conduct their child check and deactivate the system.
Purpose of the Feature
The purpose of the 'Accessory Feature' is to reduce non-essential electrical operations when the vehicle is not permitted to be running while providing the driver with a reminder that the key is in the ignition. This allows drivers to load and unload students where laws prohibit idling for an extended period of time.
Connection
Our EP1plus and EP2plus have a dedicated input White/Orange Wire which is to connect to Accessory.
Anomaly
On some buses, the key 'ON' position and Accessory position are on the same circuit which results in the override of the 4-minute timeout feature. For this feature to operate as designed the key 'ON' circuit must be isolated from the Accessory.
If an Accessory position is not possible to access, child unloading must be done either with the ignition in the 'ON' position or by utilizing the road crossing feature and the White/Orange Wire is not to be connected.
