How many school buses does the 5 gallon bucket cover?

  • 5 gallons is suitable for approximately 15-20 full sized school buses.

Can this be applied using an electrostatic sprayer?

  • Yes.
  • A manual sprayer (i.e. squirt bottle), may also be used.

Does disinfecting or cleaning the surface after applying Aegis have an effect on the 12-month protection time?

  • No, not under typical cleaning and disinfecting. The way that this is scientifically validated is by verifying the CFU/m2 (Colonial Forming Units). These tests show that the CFU/m2 remain below 250 threshold over a 1 year period.

Is the product effective on high-touch surfaces like keypads (or things like touch screens, radios, keyboards, phones, etc.)?

  • Yes.

Can it be applied to playground equipment?

  • Yes. Please refer to the SDS for additional information.

Does Aegis destroy existing microbes on the surface?

  • The surface must be cleaned and disinfected prior to applying Aegis.

Does Aegis leave a film - specifically, does it make surfaces more slippery?

  • No. USSC has actually treated subway stations and platforms to eliminate odors. In these instances, Aegis is actually sprayed on and brushed in to the platform surface.

What does the product come in (e.g. spray bottle, bucket, barrel)?

  • The product ships in a sealed 5 gallon bucket.

How much is required to be applied in order to be effective (light mist, full coverage, saturation, etc.)

  • We found this a little difficult to explain in writing, so please refer to USSC's Launch Presentation: COVID-Related Products (Recorded May 2020). At approximately 16:10 in that presentation, Jeff Kreuger, EVP at USSC provides a demonstration of the application on various porous and nonporous surfaces.

Will the product include decals or identifiers that this product has been applied to the vehicle?

  • Yes, CCM will provide stickers with a 'date applied' field which should be completed by the customer. Until July 2020, the stickers may ship separately (at no cost).
  • Note that there are different border colours on the stickers. These are to allow you to quickly identify when a 'batch' of vehicles had Aegis applied (e.g. all the blue stickers had it applied in August 2020, all the red stickers had it applied in December 2020).
If you want a specific set of colours, please contact CCM or add a note to your order. Available border colours are Blue, Yellow, Red, Grey, Black, and No Border.

Is the Safety Data Sheet Available?

Can it be applied every few months if the operator choses? More specifically, would it have any adverse effects on the seating or driver/occupants?

  • Aegis could be reapplied more than once a year but it wouldn’t improve the efficacy of the product. Once a year is sufficient and it keeps the cost under control. It would not have any negative implications if reapplied more than once a year.

Is there a list of “DO NOT USE” cleaners or materials for Aegis?

  • All standard cleaners are fine, however, cleaners with really high PH will eventually impact the effects of Aegis.

Will Aegis effect the integrity of the materials it is used on?

  • Aegis will not have any negative effect on the integrity of the materials involved.

Will Aegis have an affect on skin?

  • Aegis is regularly used in hypallergenic applications.

What is the shelf life of Aegis once it is opened?

  • 3 years.
