California SB1072

This regulatory action by the Department of the California highway Patrol (CHP) adopts section 1294 in title 1 of the CCR regarding child Safety Alert Systems (CSAC).Specifically, the action implements California Vehicle Code section 28160, Statutes 2016, chapter 721 (SB 1072), which requires that specified vehicles, school buses, school pupil activity buses, youth buses, or child care vehicles, be equipped with a CSAS on or before the beginning of the 2018-2019

Operation Features for A007 ETF:

  • Deactivates in KEY OFF position
  • Auto-activate after 5 seconds, Or
  • Horn will sound for 30 minutes if child check is not done.
  • Doors monitored and alarm latched
  • Park Brake monitored. Must be set before ignition off
  • The system cannot be deactivated with doors open
  • 3 minutes to perform child check.
  • 4 minutes of accessory time before a key cycle is required to unload students.
  • Key mutes front door alarm
  • Dome lights come on during Child Check
  • Dome lights remain 60 seconds after deactivation
