Zonar Integration: Getting Started

Overview

This is our first article dedicated to a specific integration. If you're looking to integrate with a different GPS, camera, HVAC or other device please let us know! If you're looking for more general information on integration, it can be found here.

Some school bus manufacturers (e.g. Girardin Microbird) and dealers sell Child Check-Mate Systems that are already programmed to work with third-party systems. Ask Child Check-Mate System, Inc., (or your dealer or OEM) for information.
What You'll Need
  1. A Zonar system
  2. A Child Check-Mate EP2, EP2plus, or CM3 system
  3. Child Check-Mate System software that is setup to send events to Zonar (and specifically the events you want to be sent to Zonar).
  4. A compatible subscription with Zonar (CCM suggests that you reach out to your Zonar rep to check on this).
Define Your Requirements
  1. Figure out what system events you want to see in Zonar (e.g. "I want to be notified if the CCM Motion Sensor thinks a child was left on-board"; "I want to be able to see where and when my drivers are performing their child search and deactivating CCM").
  2. Get in touch with CCM to find out how we can reprogram your systems to deliver those events (or if you may already have them).
  3. Talk to your Zonar rep to confirm that everything will work
  4. Confirm everything with CCM
Implementation

If required, CCM will then provide a quote and lead time you for your custom systems. Once you give us the go-ahead, we'll setup your software, test it and send you a few samples to validate.

When CCM sends you your systems (or a programmer to reprogram your systems), you'll need to connect wires from the 5-pin wire harness (for the EP2 / EP2plus) to Zonar. CCM will provide you with software documentation so that you know what each wire does.

Make sure you are always plugging the same wire into the same point on your Zonar system (e.g. CCM wire X always connects to Zonar input Y).

Once you have this done, you should be able to setup Zonar to react how you like. If you're not sure how to do this, heres another article to help you hit the groud running.
