Updated CA Software: ETF

Overview

CCM has received feedback from many different stakeholders (including from school districts, parts dealers and installers) in CA who have performed installations on multiple vehicle types. To improve our system, we've released the following features.

Tamper Alert Feature Added

Purpose

This is an existing feature that is typically used by supervisors and managers to audit vehicles. It may also help to discourage drivers from tampering with the system.

Functionality

If the system has been unplugged from battery power in the past ~3 days, the system will sound a different tone when the ignition is turned 'ON'.

Installers will often notice a different tone when they turn the ignition 'ON'. Listen to System Tones by clicking here.

Parking Brake Enhancement Added

Purpose

To make the system more user-friendly, CCM wanted to have our software detect a separate input for the parking brake. This assists in system operation and in troubleshooting because the system can then give the driver different feedback for the different inputs.

Functionality

The brake input can be connected to the COMM port. Optionally, the brake can be left connected to the door input and the COMM port connection can be bypassed by using a jumper (P/N: A055).

This will require an additional wire harness  (P/N: P020, Retail Price $10) for the COMM port to make the parking brake connection.

Additional Tones Added

Purpose

This improvement works in conjunction with the Parking Brake enhancement. To make the system more user-friendly, CCM wanted to distinguish the feedback provided to users when different inputs are not satisfied (e.g. when the alarm is triggered by a door open vs when the alarm is triggered by a disengaged parking brake).

Functionality

CCM will provide additional, detailed information with the release of this program. Essentially, the system emits different tones depending on why an alarm was triggered. This should assist in troubleshooting and operation.

Failsafe Alarm Dismiss Added

Purpose

The CHP specification requires that CCM systems be connected to multiple third-party switches and devices (e.g. mechanical switches, door sensors). In some vehicles, this means that there are an additional 5 or more third-party devices. In certain circumstances, if one of those devices fails, then the driver will not be able to deactivate the alarm until CHP’s specified 30-minute timer elapses, or until a technician arrives to assist the driver.

Functionality

In the event that a switch fails, the driver will be able to silence the alarm by turning ignition to the ‘ON’ position. To be clear, the driver is still required to complete their child search with the doors closed (and the parking brake engaged before ignition is turned off) in accordance with our understanding of CHP's requirements.
