System Activation Troubleshooting
Having trouble activating your Child Check-Mate system?
More often than not an activation issue is related to a connection problem.
To confirm it's not an issue with the module you can force activate the system without utilizing the the brown activation wire.
Force System Activation
- Remove the 6-Pin connector from your EP1plus or EP2plus module.
- Position the ignition key to 'ON' and re-insert the 6-Pin connector into the module. You should hear the start up tone followed immediately by two single manual activation tones.
- If you hear both sets of tones it means you have successfully activated your system.
- Now deactivate the system by pressing the deactivation button for 2 to 3 seconds.
If you were able to complete the above procedure successfully your activation issue is related to the connection of the brown activation wire.
Connection Test
- Determine the connection point of the activation wire.
- For a van, the brown activation wire is typically connected to the hot side of the brake and sees 12 volts when the brake is pressed.
- For a bus, the brown activation wire is typically connected to the overhead lights and sees 12 volts when the lights are engaged.
- Probe the brown wire with a voltmeter while attempting to activate the system by stepping on the brake or engaging the overhead lights.
- If you don't see 12 volts on the brown while manually attempting to activate the system this confirms you have a connection problem.
- You can confirm this by cutting the brown activation wire on the 6-Pin connector and applying 12 volts to it, you should hear the manual activation tone.
